Missed opportunities for jewellery photography
Would you be surprised when I suggest that many jewellers and goldsmiths regularly miss a significant opportunity?
Unique commissions - here today gone tomorrow
By this I refer to the opportunity to photograph unique jewellery commissions before the item goes to the client. There is a window of time between completion to collection (or delivery) that often gets overlooked. This window of time provides a perfect opportunity to photograph the commission for addition to a portfolio or possible product page.
Furthermore, good quality, consistent photography builds a resource which can be referenced in future commissions. An online library of past commissions can be a truly useful asset—demonstrating ability, quality of work and providing inspiration to interested or future clients.
Time constrains or busy jewellers
Time constrains often lead to missed opportunities. I have seen this first hand from many of my jewellery clients. Some manage to take a quick picture for Instagram, but few manage to create a single quality image or series of images to justify their finished work.
Food for thought - seeking time sensitive professional assistance
Over the last couple of years, I have helped many other jewellers out with commission photography saving a great deal of their valuable time. We create single or multiple jewellery commission photographs within a short time frame whilst the opportunity exists. Items are returned fully insured to the jeweller in time for delivery or collection without any need to re-finish items. Since our base of operations exists within a jewellery organisation we have an existing level of care for finished jewellery along with comprehensive insurance on items sent by us and within our care.
